Coronavirus

13th August 2020

Following advice from the Department of Health, church leadership has taken the decision to make face coverings mandatory at church on Sundays. Booking ahead is still essential.

You don’t have to wear a face covering:

  • if you are under the age of 13
  • whilst at the front of church (e.g. service leading, singing, reading)
  • if you have a reasonable excuse not to

When wearing a face covering you should:

  • make sure the face covering covers your mouth, nose and chin without any gaps at the side
  • wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before putting a face covering on
  • avoid wearing on your neck or forehead
  • avoid touching the part of the face covering in contact with your mouth and nose, as it could be contaminated with the virus
  • change the face covering if it becomes damp or if you’ve touched it
  • avoid taking it off and putting it back on a lot in quick succession

When removing a face covering you should:

  • wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before removing
  • only handle the straps, ties or clips
  • do not give it to someone else to use
  • if single-use, dispose of it carefully in a residual waste bin and do not recycle
  • if reusable, wash it in line with manufacturer’s instructions at the highest temperature appropriate for the fabric after every use
  • wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser once removed

We encourage you to bring your own mask but if you forget can give you one from a limited supply we have at church.

If there are any more developments with Coronavirus safety we will keep you updated.

Every Blessing,

UniChurch Leadership Team

20th July 2020

It is our great delight to announce that from Sunday 26th of July UniChurch Belfast will open its doors! For the past few months services have been online only but we are now in a position to have physical services on a Sunday evening.

The service will begin at 7.30 with doors opening from 7.15. On arrival, you will be greeted by the welcome team who will encourage you to sanitise your hands before leading you to your seat. Other public safety precautions will be announced during the service.

It is essential to book online before attending. This is so we ensure maximum capacity is not exceeded and to aid in contact tracing should it be needed. Details will be stored in line with our privacy policy and you will not be entered into any mailing lists or subscriptions. Only the contact details of the individual making the booking are required if multiple tickets are being reserved (e.g. if inviting a friend, or coming as a family)

Please ensure you are well before attending the service and we ask that you do not attend if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 including a new continuous cough, fever or loss of taste/smell.

Things will look different for the next while but we remember that our God is unchanging despite our changing circumstance.

Every Blessing,

UniChurch Leadership Team

19th March 2020

I’m sure that, by now, you will have heard the news that churches across the country are pausing their getting together for a few months in response to COVID-19. This is a note to say that we have taken the decision to do the same, which means that our services, growth groups, youth and seniors’ meetings, and all other gatherings, are on hold for this period of time. However, church is not closed, we’re still here! Things will run a little differently, of course, but there will still be opportunity for us to gather under God’s word, to pray and to encourage each other in living for Jesus.

1) Sundays

There will be a broadcast service at 11am and another at 7.30pm each Sunday. You will be able to access it via unichur.ch/stream and on facebook. This Sunday, we’ll be thinking about what God says regarding our present circumstances, in which there is very real fear, uncertainty and angst, yet he remains the sovereign and loving heavenly Father who tenderly reigns and rules. In time, we’ll be sharing some resources for families and including a children’s slot at the 11am broadcast.

2) Growth Groups

In most cases, our growth groups will still meet but online, as far as is possible. Some groups have already met this way, and your leaders will be in touch with details about your next meeting. Some groups also use WhatsApp or text to circulate matters for prayer and they’d commend this. Ask your leaders.

3) ASC Youth & Golden Saints

The leaders of each of these groups will be in touch with their plans to keep connected.

4) Pastoral support

I’m very conscious that in this time of uncertainty, there will be those who will feel a bit overwhelmed and potentially isolated from others. As a church, we are there for one another, building each other up and continuing to grow in Christ. Please don’t feel as if you’re on your own. Should you wish to chat, my number is 07776 178248 and email trevor@ascbelfast.com – please do not hesitate.

5) Giving

The opportunity to continue to give, though we’re not physically meeting up, is still there and we’d encourage you to partner and serve in this way. If you contribute through standing order or online giving that facility is still available: www.unichurchbelfast.com/giving. If you wish to post your gift, please send your cheque to All Saints’ Church, c/o 9 Kincora Avenue, Belfast, BT4 3DW. If you would like someone to collect your envelope, please contact me or David Scholes (our treasurer).

These are uncharted days, and most of us have never lived through anything like them. Yet, God still rules, he is in control. Not one of us can add a day to our lives through worry or anxiety, yet our heavenly Father cares and provides for us with all of the things we need, especially in our Lord Jesus.

With much love in Christ,

Trevor Johnston (Rev)
